We finished our assessment unit (midterms).  We discussed the rhetorical pattern of compare/contrast as we are going to write a compare/contrast essay.  To write this essay, we are viewing the film "Driving Miss Daisy" (1989-Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tandy).  We will be comparing/contrasting this film to the novel "Of Mice and Men."  It is recommended that you take notes during the film.

We finished the novel "Of Mice and Men" and had a Socratic seminar for points on Tuesday. I collected your questions for points.  We discussed Tone homework.  We finished the film, OMAM.  Thursday, we took the vocabulary quiz over the whole novel.  Friday, we will proceed with midterm assessments.  Soundtrack assinment due Monday.

We wrote word streams about spring break and shared. We then answered some comprehension questions about Of Mice and Men, sections 1 and 2, and discussed.  We copied vocab words for sections 1-3...we will be having a vocab quiz at the end of next week.  Read section 3 by Wednesday...Finish the book by Friday.  Photo writings are due on or before Friday.

We worked on grammar packet (commas) and will go over that on Thursday.  We discussed essential questions and did a writing about relationships.  Homework: read and annotate the 2 symbiosis articles.

Today we handed in B-layer projects. Remember that A-layer  papers are due tomorrow still!  We went over comma packets and did a song writing.  We also brushed up on literary movements.

We presented literary movement research and took notes on both days.  Monday, we turned in C-layer projects. Tuesday, we had a final reading check about Huck Finn and discussed.  Tomorrow: be prepared for Socractic seminar (write 4 questions..no close-ended...SEE MAIN ENGLISH 10 PAGE FOR QUESTION TYPES.)

Friday, B-layer projects are due!

Worked on research...only one more day to finish up then we will present on Monday.  Reminder: C-layer due on Monday. Finish Huck Finn by Tuesday!  Probably a Socratic Seminar on Wednesday.

Today we read SSR.  Then we discussed upcoming C-layer movie showings: one is today at 2:30 in room 208, one is tomorrow at 4:30 in the library well.  (Any other showings, please schedule with Mrs. Baxter.)  We then worked in the lab on our literary movement slides.  Have 34-39 read by tomorrow...be ready to discuss!
